Taconic Opera’s 25th Anniversary Season Begins: Massenet’s Manon, October 22 & 23, 2022 in Yorktown
October 23 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
One event on October 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm
Taconic Opera, celebrating its 25th Anniversary, is opening its 2022-23 season with a full production of an operatic gem. After last season’s successful Manon Lescaut by Puccini, they will present Massenet’s French version, Manon, which has a twist on the storyline. The production will be fully staged with professional, experienced lead singers and orchestra, and Maestro Jun Nakabayashi looks forward to providing the downbeat. Generous donations have made it possible to upgrade the sets for a visual feast, and it will be sung in French with English supertitles projected above the stage to further elevate the entire experience.
According to General Director, Dan Montez, Manon is a Grand Opera with some of the most famous and beautiful music ever written. While both operas deal with a woman choosing between financial security and true love, it is distinctively different from the Puccini version in that it delves into her impoverished existence as she struggles to win back her true love who has become a priest.
Matinee performances will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 3:30 pm, and Sunday, October 23, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Yorktown Stage, 1974 Commerce St., Yorktown Heights. The theater is handicap-accessible.
A wide range of ticket prices are available ($69-$15). Reductions are offered for advance sales, seniors, students and groups of 5 or more. Reductions can be taken together.
