Woodlands Boys Basketball Wins Second Straight Gold Ball

The Woodlands High School Boys Basketball Team captured their second Gold Ball in as many years, by repeating as the Section 1 Class B Boys Basketball Champions. Woodlands (19-3), the number one seed in the tournament defeated the number two-seeded Briarcliff High School, 56-50, on Saturday, at the Westchester County Center to win the Title.

Falcons senior Jamil Gambari scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Championship game. Gambari was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Class B Tournament for the second consecutive year. Falcons senior Pierre Lys contributed 13 points, four rebounds and five assists, while senior Ross Joseph added nine points and six rebounds.
Briarcliff was led by Sean Crowley with 15 points and six rebounds and Alquan Phillip, who had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

With the Section 1 Class B Championship secured, Woodlands advances to play in the Class B State Regional Semifinals, on Wednesday, March 11, at 3 p.m. at Purchase College.
