Women’s Resource Center Holds Restaurant Raffle

We are part of The Trust Project

Enjoy dining out and supporting a good cause? Well, here is a chance to do both. The Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is holding their annual “Restaurant Raffle” where lucky winners will have the opportunity to win a gift certificate to some of the finest restaurants in the Hudson Valley, while supporting the efforts of the WRC.

The Women’s Resource Center is a not-for-profit organization established to advocate, educate, and provide services to the community. Their main goal is to create a safe and supportive environment that eliminates violence against women and children, and promotes gender equality.

“Every service offered to women, children, and men at the Women’s Resource Center is free, but it takes money to provide these services, pay the staff, keep the shelter safe and clean, keep the electricity on, and much more. Over $1 million a year has to be raised through grants, donations, and fundraising events.  The financial support from our community through donations and participation in our fundraising events – including the Hudson Valley Food and Wine Experience, A Women’s Voice, and, currently, the Restaurant Raffle – enables us to fill in the large gaps between income and expenses. I send out a heartfelt thanks to all who find it in their hearts to support this very important work and our vision to create a more peaceful world,” said Executive Director Ann Ellsworth.

The WRC strives to help victims of sexual assault, human trafficking, bullying, stalking, dating violence, and domestic violence by offering a 24-hour crisis hotline (845-628-2166), community outreach programs, and educational resources for the public. To receive assistance, you can call the Women’s Resource Center at 845-628-9284 and they will do whatever they can to improve your circumstances. Overall, the WRC is a safe refuge for women, men, and children in Putnam County.

“The Women’s Resource Center has always done amazing work when it comes to serving the residents of Putnam County. Year after year, their fundraisers are well thought-out and fun to participate in, which is wonderful because they go toward supporting a great cause. I am delighted to see that the WRC continues to do everything that they can to keep our county’s residents safe and happy,” said MaryEllen Odell.

Restaurants included in the raffle are Cathryn’s Tuscan Grill, Char Steakhouse & Bar, Dish Bistro & Wine Bar, Northern Smoke, Ramiro’s 954 Latin Bistro, Rick’s Seafood & Gourmet Specialties, The Terrace Club, Thyme Restaurant, Traditions 118 Restaurant, and Riverview Restaurant.

Raffle tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25 and can be purchased online at the WRC website: www.pnwwrc.org or at their Putnam offices located at 935 South Lake Blvd, Suite #2, Mahopac, NY 10541. For further information on the raffle or the work of the WRC, call (845) 628-9284 or visit their website.
