Tigers’ right-hand pitcher Lukas Repetti is 3-0, after beating the Huguenots 5-1 in New Rochelle, on Thursday, April 18. Repetti pitched six innings, while giving up only three hits and four walks, without relinquishing a run.

Repetti was relieved by Kevin Nicholson in the top of the seventh inning, who gave up one run before striking-out Huguenots Lou Meceli to end the game.

As this has been a season with a few controversial umpire calls, (Tigers Cameron Crabbe being called out at home plate during the game against Stepinac: Chris Medeot being called out at second base to end the same game) this game followed suit.

Tigers’ catcher Kyle Adams slammed a double in the first inning and never saw another good pitch in the game. Adams walked in the sixth inning, after Ben Ringel struck-out with the score 1-0 White Plains. Adams then stole second base while Crabbe struck-out for the second out of the sixth inning.

However, on Adams’ steal attempt the throw beat him to second base by a large margin but the umpire called Adams safe, while noting that Huguenots shortstop John Valente missed the tag. “I figured the only way I had a chance was to go around him (Valente) because if I went straight-in he would have had the tag right on me,” depicted Adams, concerning his hook-slide into second base.

If the umpire had called Adams out on the steal attempt, the top of sixth inning would have ended on the strikeout/throw-out with the score 1-0 White Plains. However, with two outs Medeot slammed a three-run triple and scored on the throw back to the pitcher. Then Sean Nicholson hit an RBI single. Therefore, the Tigers ended their half of the sixth inning winning 5-0, instead of 1-0.

Nonetheless, the game-ball goes to Tigers junior pitcher Repetti. He had one tough inning, while throwing 25 pitches in the sixth, in a 91-pitch six-inning outing. But he still led the Tigers to their fifth win of the season and his third win without a loss.

This was a big win for the Tigers (5-3, 1-1 AA), who bounced back against New Rochelle, after losing, 2-1, to the Huguenots two days prior in White Plains. “It was a big win,” stated Tigers Head Coach Marcel Galligani. “We were not banking the entire season on this one game but it was certainly a big win after a tough loss to these guys on Tuesday,” emphasized Galligani.
