After the sudden reassignment of its Green House principal at Mahopac High School last week, the Mahopac Board of Education appointed an interim administrator to temporarily fill the vacancy on Tuesday night.

Glenn Weeks was appointed as the interim assistant principal over the green house and began his assignment first thing Wednesday morning.

“Mr. Weeks is qualified and capable of filling this position,” wrote Dr. Adam Pease, principal at Mahopac High School in a letter to the high school students’ parents. “Mr. Weeks comes highly recommended, and we are lucky to have someone with his experience level and expertise to work with us at Mahopac High School.”

Schools Superintendent Thomas Manko agreed. “The district is fortunate to have Mr. Weeks join the High School administrative team and welcomes him to the Mahopac school community,” he said in a letter that was distributed district-wide.

Weeks holds a New York State School District Administrator certification, as well as a teaching certificate in Biology, Chemistry, General Science and Health. Throughout his professional career he has been a teacher as well as a building administrator.

From 1986 to 2010, Weeks served as assistant principal at Suffern High School when he retired. In 2011, he decided to end his retirement and served in the capacity of assistant principal at Irvington High School.

Weeks will be paid $550 a day to work for the Mahopac School District.

On Dec. 6, the school board held a special personnel meeting and put Troy Bilyeu on administrative reassignment for an indefinite period of time, while an internal investigation was being conducted.

The school district will not disclose what the investigation is in reference to.

Bilyeu, a 42-year-old resident of Mahopac, was hired by the district in 1997. His annual salary as of June 2011 was at least $148,233.50.
