Water Restrictions Imposed in Mount Pleasant

We are part of The Trust Project

Due to a malfunction at the Commerce Street Pump Station, which includes Hawthorne, Thornwood and Valhalla, all homes and businesses are on high water restrictions.

Until further notice, the Town of Mount Pleasant has banned car washing and the use of lawn sprinklers.

Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi said on Aug. 10 there are no other water restrictions in place.

The water conservation measures have been imposed because of the malfunction that recently took place at the pump station. “Two of the three pumps that pump water from the Commerce \Street Pump Station to the water storage tanks on Lozza Drive suddenly stopped working,” Fulgenzi said. “One pump has been working fine and able to maintain a workable level in our tanks due to the present restrictions”

“We received parts this morning and are hoping to be back to normal by tomorrow afternoon.” Fulgenzi said. “We will not remove the restrictions until probably Friday after we do an analysis of the entire system to try to find out what caused the pump failures.”
