She is an artist, wife, mother and number cruncher. Besides penning erotica novels she is also the Director of Marketing at Novel Publicity. Her most recent work, Protecting Portia (A Sugar House Novella), was released last month.

Which authors most influence your writing?

I’ve been heavily influenced by Anais Nin my whole life.  Her ability to intertwine beauty and visceral descriptions with story arcs which would make lesser authors run screaming has always enchanted me.  No matter what else someone says about my stories, I want people to always walk away having FELT the story, not just enjoyed it.

Recently I’ve been heavily influenced by Ursula K LeGuinn.  Probably because I’m trying my hand at Sci-Fi in my current WIP (Work in Profress) and her style is also very descriptive and emotive.

What is the most important aspect of writing erotica novels?

A lot of erotica out there is really just Romance with more emphasis on the sex.  To me though, erotica isn’t about romance but about exploration.  In my current series – The Sugar House Novellas – I’m able to not only titillate but push boundaries of sexual desires and social commentary.  Personally, I’m drawn to the erotica stories that use sex as a catalyst for emotional discovery.

Which one of your characters is your favorite and why?

I absolutely adore Jackson from Protecting Portia.  This is my newest release, and writing Jackson was an absolute pleasure.  He spoke to me directly, filling me with his desperation and self-hate until I longed for him to find peace in Portia’s arms.  His journey is both sexual and emotional, one of healing and acceptance which he can only find at the touch of someone who not only loves him but deeply understand him.  I think they’re story is really beautiful and I’m honored they chose me to tell it for them.

If you have an interest in great erotica, you should check out Pavarti K Tyler’s work. You can find Protecting Portia at Amazon and a number of other retailers.
