Each school district in Putnam County saw its budget pass easily Tuesday night to the delight of district officials as incumbent school board members retained their seats with scores of newcomers also earning spots.

In Brewster, 917-457 voted in favor of the budget and the purchase of seven new buses also passed 915-460. Board president Dr. Stephen Jambor and board vice-president Sonia Mesika both earned another term in office and newcomer Mary Cay Nilsen was also voted on.

In Carmel, the budget passed overwhelmingly with 1,242-549 in favor. A capital reserve fund was also voted for 1,204-549. Board president Rick Kreps was reelected and Michelle Yorio also won a seat after losing by two votes last year.

In Mahopac, the budget passed 1,052-471, as Brian Mahoney, Roger Bell, Daniel Hunter, and Carolann Lacoparra were all voted on the school board in an uncontested race.

In Putnam Valley, voters approved the budget 742-167 and incumbents Guy Cohen and David Spittal were selected for another year.

In Haldane, the budget was OK’d 667-259 and out of a field of six candidates, incumbent Evan Schwartz and newcomers Margaret Parr and Margaret Clements were voted on the school board.

Finally, in Garrison, the budget was signed off 185-51 and Raymond O’Rourke, David Gelber, and James Scott Hoch were all voted on in an uncontested race.
