We are part of The Trust Project

The 2016 Peekskill Makes Me Merry holiday campaign, sponsored by the Peekskill Business Improvement District, kicks off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3 in Downtown Peekskill with the Annual Peekskill Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Gazebo on the corner of Division and Park Streets.

There will be live performances by Clayton Bryant, from the Oscar and Grammy Winning Best Documentary “20 Feet from Stardom” and the Arts10566 Youth Chorus, Renowned Singer/ Entertainer of Classic Pop Favorite’s and Love Songs Doug Ferony and Broadway star Joni Lanza, all of whom are performing at the Paramount Hudson Valley during the month of December. WHUD radio’s Kacey Morabito will MC the evening.

Immediately after the performances, Santa Claus will arrive on a Peekskill Fire Truck, followed by the official lighting of the tree. Free hot chocolate and cookies are being provided by Kathleen’s Tea Room, courtesy of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce.

The annual tree lighting is sponsored by the City of Peekskill, the Peekskill Business Improvement District, the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce, and The Kearney Realty & Development Group.

“Peekskill is the holiday destination with boundless entertainment and dining options as well as specialty shops that offer personalized service and gift options not found in big malls. Find out why Peekskill Makes Me Merry: shop, dine and be entertained in Downtown Peekskill,” said Bill Powers, Executive Director or the Peekskill Business Improvement District.

Immediately following the Tree Lighting, the Peekskill Arts Alliance Holiday Boutique is having an opening reception at the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce, One South Division Street, Peekskill.  The boutique opens Friday, December 2, and runs through Sunday, December 4 and features fine crafts, jewelry, wearable art, pottery, small paintings, photos, prints, cards, and more.  For more information: www.peekskillartsalliance.org.

Santa makes a return appearance at the Paramount Hudson Valley for Santa Makes Me Merry and Third Annual Toy Give-A-Way on Saturday, December 10, from 10 a.m. -12:30 p.m., sponsored by the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce. Free admission, complimentary refreshments, and toys (while supplies last, one toy per child, no exchanges).

Love Holds Life Children’s Cancer Charity is sponsoring the toy give-a-way as they did at last year’s tree lighting ceremony.  The toy-give-a-way is being moved to the Paramount to accommodate more children in the event of bad weather.

Children can meet Santa and watch holiday cartoons on the Paramount’s big screen. An illusionist will entertain children while on line to meet Santa, and attendees can listen to holiday story time with April Armstrong at 12noon, courtesy of the Peekskill Business Improvement District and the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce. There also will be special appearances by a super hero and Geoffrey the Giraffe, courtesy Love Holds Life.
