November 16 Peekskill Telethon to Benefit Homeless

MJM Television and Video Productions will be producing a telethon from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16 for Caring for the Homeless of Peekskill (CHOP) at Peekskill High School. The event will raise funds for homeless veterans and other in the community who have fallen on hard times.

The organizations set to benefit from the telethon are: The Jan Peek House: Experience with some 30 years serving the homeless. Special dorm for homeless vets and a complete continuum of care; Turning Point: A supportive housing program that places chronically homeless individuals in permanent housing and provides them with the critical services they need; and Fred’s Pantry: A “choice” food pantry, in partnership with St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, that serves children, families, seniors and adults in need of food.

The telethon will include musical entertainment, interviews and the opportunity for businesses to make donations live on the air. The community can also call and make pledges. Some auction items from famed musicians are: BB King original signed guitar ($48,000 value); Olivia Newton John signed ($2,500); Ja ckson Five; Brian Wilson signed; and Charlie Daniels (vet fiddle) signed ($4,500 value).

The telethon will be broadcast on local community stations throughout Northern Westchester and will be aired on Cablevision Channel 78 and Verizon Fios Channel 28 as well as YouTube and Facebook Live.
