Friends of the White Plains Youth Bureau to Recognize Local Role Models

The Friends of the White Plains Youth Bureau will host “An Evening with Friends” Gala on Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in White Plains at 6 p.m. Nearly 300 community partners and organization supporters are expected to attend the event, which will feature a silent auction, live music, and Erica Hill, CNN Correspondent as the emcee.

The evening will recognize several special local people who present a positive model for the community’s youth: award winning Chef and Food Network Star, Chef Jeff Henderson; Dr. Marsha Gordon, CEO and President of the Business Council of Westchester; and Frank Williams, Jr., Executive Director of the White Plains Youth Bureau.

Jeff Henderson was Executive Chef at the renowned Café Bellagio and Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, and has since become one of the most inspirational African-American chefs in the country. Jeff’s remarkable story of finding his passion for cooking while incarcerated and turning his life around was captured in his New York Times Bestseller COOKED (William Morrow, February 2007).
Marsha Gordon is leader of the County’s largest and most influential business organization. She brings more than 25 years of community, commerce and leadership experience to the Business Council of Westchester (BCW).

Frank Williams, Jr. is now celebrating 30 years of services with the White Plains Youth Bureau. Under his leadership, the White Plains Youth Bureau is nationally recognized as an agency model that provides pathways and opportunities for youth to grow, succeed and reach their goals.

The White Plains Youth Bureau has touched thousands of young lives since the Mayor and Common Council made it a formal office of city government in 1970. The Youth Bureau has one mission: helping youth grow into successful adults. With over 40 positive youth development programs, that engage over 2000 youth per day, the Youth Bureau helps to unlock the doors of possibilities for our youth. The Friends of the White Plains Youth Bureau is dedicated to sustaining this goal.
