Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and leave your worries behind as you experience total beauty inside and out. Already open for three months, Escape Spa is an up and coming business located in Yorktown’s Parkside Plaza on Route 202. With the help of friends and neighboring businesses, such as Snap Fitness and Little Sorrentos, Escape Spa was able to successfully get its feet off the ground.

Run by owner Renee Palompelli, a seasoned veteran of the spa business for over 15 years, Escape Spa is a unique experience that blends the luxuries of a spa and salon under one roof.

Step inside, and you’ll find private manicure and pedicure rooms, private massage rooms, facial stations, and a full working salon. “Many of our facials,” explained Palompelli, “are calming, deep cleansing, and perfect for preventing and treating acne, dark spots, discoloration, wrinkles, pores, irritated skin, and blemishes. The facials emphasize the maintenance of healthy, radiant, and youthful skin.”

Palompelli added, “Many of our massages target the overworked muscles more effectively and help repair the ones that are damaged. The benefits of massages are the decrease in muscle recovery time, the increase in muscle flexibility, the prevention of future muscle strains, and the enhancement in circulation, the immune system, and overall bodily functions.”

“Unlike other salons,” said Palompelli, “we sterilize our equipment before and after treating a customer. We are so cautious of this, that we would not close Escape Spa for the night until we make sure every single piece of equipment is 100 percent sterilized and clean for the next day’s use.”

Escape Spa creates something more meaningful and longer-lasting than a beautiful look, but the rejuvenation of the body, mind and, spirit.

“I remember one day,” said Palompelli, “a woman from Greenwich, Connecticut walked inside looking like a mess; she was frustrated and saddened by her appearance. That same day, we truly gave her a day of beauty by doing her nails, giving her a full body massage, a facial, and highlights in her hair. A couple of days later, we received a call from her saying what a change we made in her life. Since then, she has continued to come back to get the same treatments. The difference Escape Spa made in her life is truly what this business is all about – changing lives and having a great time doing it.”

When asked what is the most popular treatment among customers, Palompelli replied, “Our customers always want ombre highlights in their hair and the Keratin treatment. The ombre highlights are an extremely popular trend among girls, teens, and young adults that allow the customer to pick from an array of colors and designs to customize their hair. The Keratin treatment is a hair smoothening process that diminishes the hair’s frizziness and cuts the hair’s drying time in half.”
